| Today we of TEK9 Networks are sad to announce that for the first time in four years we will be parting ways with our Call of Duty division. A lack of interest in Call of Duty 4 in general and not being able to attend/prepare for the upcoming events due to conflicting schedules has made the team decide to go their seperate ways for now, with a possibility of getting back together after the release of CoD5. Depending on the success of Call of Duty 5, the team might get back together again later this year. Right now however this remains uncertain and both Davy and KNALLER will stop playing Call of Duty 4 for now (unless very tempting offers arise). The rest of the team has stated they will continue playing and will hopefully pop up in another top formation in the coming weeks. This also means we are saying goodbye to the most successful team in the history of TEK9, with victories at the WSVG 2008 Dallas, Outpost on Fire 2 and the EuroCup XV LAN Finals back in Call of Duty 2 and top finishes in both Call of Duty 1 and 4. We would like to wish the guys the best of luck. They represented TEK9 with pride and we were proud to have them in our ranks. Davy "Davy" Sysmans
Stevy "Stevy" Verheyen
Alexander "KNALLER" Shulepov
Mark "mark" Horner
Antonin "OZWALD" Grenier
Statement Davy Sysmans: "Sad to say but we've been put in a situation that only leads to us splitting up. Since we were inactive for most of the time since cod4 came out we never got to the point where we were in cod2. Also the fact that not everyone enjoys cod4 enough to come up with the right dedication is a big part of our somewhat lesser results. We were still able to hang around the top5-6 in the world with all our problems but this isnt enough with the potential we have. Now that we wont be able to attend any lans with full preparation it has come to the point that we have to call it quits as a team. I myself wont be playing cod4 anymore unless I can get a really good offer that could give me the right motivation again. Though actually I'm just hoping cod5 will be good for competition, if not I'll probably stay inactive and quit. I just wish the rest of the gang best of luck in whatever they'll be doing! Hopefully we can get together again for cod5, who knows. The last 2-3 years were amazing (top 3 in 10 lanevents in a row *cough*) for me thanks to people like Steven, Constantin, Sam, Antonin, Alex, Burak, Jyri, Daniel etc.. Some of them have become real good friends of mine. I've been in tek9 for almost 4 years now and I guess I'll never really leave the organisation! Steven knows where to find me when needed =)." Statement Alexander Shulepov: "Due to the combination of personal schedules we do not have sufficient time to prepare properly for the upcoming lans. Our priority was the lan in Rome, but unfortunately it probably wont be happening (atleast not a cod4 tourney). People want to attend lans of course and the only solution hereby is to let everyone go their own way. Maybe we'll reunite in the future, maybe not. Time will tell. I wish my (former) teammates the best of luck in whatever they decide to do. <3 Personally I don't know yet what I'm gonna do. At the moment I'm just not playing cod4 anymore, but I'm somewhat open to interesting offers I guess. As this might be my last statement I'd also like to give a special thanks to sko for picking me up in cod2, and to ozwald for being the coolest teammate for a long time." |
